Is the Atlantic Coast Conference good? ›

The ACC has led the FBS conferences in the best average rank in each of the last 17 years. The average rank of ACC schools is 54.9, which leads all FBS Conferences. The ACC's four schools among the top 30 of this year's rankings were the most among peer conferences.

Additionally, Notre Dame is part of the contract with the College Football Playoff along with teams from the other nine conferences. With their brand value and prestige — 11 national championships — there's no reason for the Fighting Irish to think about joining a league.
